A last-minute decision to run Break Card at Randwick paid off when the filly made up for her disappointing effort last start to score a decisive win.

Trainer Gerald Ryan said he waited until after 7am on Saturday morning before deciding she would run in the Book Your Carnival Package Handicap.

A week ago, the filly finished last of seven but found the 1200 metres more to her liking, beating favourite Brasileira ($1.85) by 2-1/4 lengths with Visa Lisa ($8) a short head away third.

Punters forgave Break Card more easily than her trainer and sent her out the second elect at $6.50.

"I was very disappointed last week," Ryan said.

"Blake Shinn rode her and he didn't think she'd gone too badly.

"She didn't work as well as I wanted on Tuesday and I waited until ten past seven this morning before telling the owner we would run.

"To be fair she dropped five kilos from last week and it seems 1200 metres suits her better."

Corey Brown, who rode her to a win and second at her first two starts this campaign, took over from Shinn and said she had travelled better than ever.

"That's her best run with me," Brown said.

"She was relaxed and really clicked up when I asked her to."

The win was a confidence booster for Brown who has watched Nash Rawiller take an almost unassailable lead in the Sydney jockeys' premiership over the past couple of weeks.

Rawiller didn't let up on Saturday with three wins from his first three rides.
