Kryptelon's future as a broodmare has been put on hold for another 12 months but trainer David Kelly isn't happy ahead of her attempt at successive wins at Doomben.

Kelly managed to convince the mare's owners, Bruce Petersen and Andre Theron, to postpone retirement plans for the six-year-old who will be chasing her 10th win in Saturday's $100,000 Bollinger Handicap (1350m).

Kryptelon scored by a nose over Beyonce's Star in a similar fillies and mares race over 1200 metres at Doomben on September 11 but Kelly is incensed with her treatment by Racing Queensland handicappers.

Kryptelon will carry topweight of 58.5kg, a one kilogram rise on her Doomben victory.

"She can't win with 58.5 kilos but she'll be going around," Kelly said.

"I can't understand how the handicappers can give her that weight so quickly.

"When she won the Gai Waterhouse Classic (in June) she had 53 kilos and Beyonce's Star had the same weight.

"Now there's three kilos difference between them even though Beyonce's Star has been placed four times and we've won one race."

Kryptelon's treatment could force Kelly to head interstate with her if she acquits herself well.

"There's a nice race in Melbourne we're looking at worth $150,000 over 1400 metres on Oaks day," Kelly said.

"It wasn't hard to convince her owners to keep racing her for another season but I've had enough with the handicappers here and she'll go away if she runs well.

"She's done a great job this campaign and has won $130,000 in prizemoney."

Trainer Liam Birchley is hopeful of another strong showing from Alberton Park but he has also raised concerns with her weight of 54.5kg.

Alberton Park drops half a kilogram after finishing third to Kryptelon and Beyonce's Star last start.

"I think she's badly handicapped again and I can't expect her to do any better with the weights she's been getting," Birchley said.

"She drops half a kilogram tomorrow but for what she's down she's badly handicapped.

"She's still eligible for a class five while some of her opponents have won and been placed in stakes races."

Birchley believes Alberton Park has the ability to win at black-type level next campaign.

"For the time being she'll poke along in races like this but next preparation she might develop into a stakes mare," he said.

Birchley nominated Alberton Park for the Group One Queensland Oaks (2400m) at Eagle Farm during the winter before her campaign was derailed by injury.
