Stathi Katsidis will restrict himself to four rides including the Mike Moroney-trained Glistening in the Queensland Cup when he makes his long-awaited comeback at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

"I could have taken a full book but I'd like to make an impact if it's possible and I don't want to overdo it in my first meeting back," Katsidis said.

Katsidis was given a doctor's clearance on Monday to resume his riding career after being out of the saddle for the past 14 months.

He hasn't ridden since incurring a six-month drug disqualification and being sidelined with a compound fracture to his left leg suffered when breaking in horses last year.

"I can't wait to get back and I'm very excited," Katsidis said.

"I was riding work at Wadham Park but since Lindsay (trainer Lindsay Hatch) got disqualified last week I've been going to Deagon to ride trackwork.

"I rode six in work there today and five yesterday before I went back and rode some more horses in work at Beaudesert."

Hatch was disqualified for 12 months by Queensland Racing Limited stewards following an inquiry into an elevated TCO2 (bicarbonate) reading taken from Space Ace following his class two win at Dalby on May 31.

Katsidis has also ridden in barrier trials and will further test his leg before Saturday when he rides in trials on the newly-installed cushion track at Toowoomba on Thursday and Beaudesert on Friday.

"I've been riding work as short as I do on a race day and I've pulled up a lot better than I expected," Katsidis said.

Apart from Glistening, Katsidis will partner Steel Lips, Daddy's Little Girl and False Accusation at Eagle Farm which will be the venue for the first meeting conducted under the banner of the newly-formed Brisbane Racing Club.

The Brisbane Racing Club was formed following a merger of Brisbane's two metropolitan clubs, the Queensland Turf Club and Brisbane Turf Club.

To commemorate the historic meeting a $100,000 maiden, the Brisbane Town Plate (1400m), has been programmed along with the $150,000 Queensland Cup and $75,000 Listed Ascot Handicap (1200m).

Katsidis, 30, a dual Brisbane jockeys' premiership winner, had planned to make his return at last week's Caloundra Cup meeting but delayed his comeback after suffering soreness in his leg last week.

Glistening, a Sadler's Wells gelding, ran well when sixth to Phaze Action in the Andrew Ramsden over the Queensland Cup distance of 3200 metres at Flemington on May 16.

He subsequently finished second on a heavy track over 3000 metres at Moonee Valley on June 8 before his 15th on a good surface in the Group Three Tattersall's Cup (2200m) at Eagle Farm on June 20.
