Stathi Katsidis will spend almost as much time in the air as the saddle this week as the spring carnival gathers momentum.

Brisbane's premier jockey rode in Sydney on Saturday and will be back for Tuesday and Wednesday meetings ahead of his reunion in Melbourne with Shoot Out in the Liston Stakes.

He flew home after Saturday's Randwick meeting and will do so again before heading to Saturday's Caulfield races.

"I'm not going to make a habit of it," Katsidis said.

"Melbourne will be the main focus.

"I was asked to come to Sydney to ride some horses for John Thompson that might be going further.

"I'm riding at 53 kilos on Tuesday but I won't be doing that often either."

Katsidis rode Decision Time to third in the San Domenico Stakes on Saturday but whether he rides the Clarry Conners-trained three-year-old in the Golden Rose on August 28 will depend on Shoot Out's program.

The AJC Australian Derby winner is the equal favourite alongside So You Think for the Cox Plate with the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups also on the agenda.

As well as riding three Thompson-trained horses at Randwick on Tuesday, Katsidis has two rides for Conners.

Katsidis is looking forward to riding a more mature Shoot Out again after his sparkling first-up win over 1200 metres in the Bletchingly Stakes last Saturday week.

"I don't ride him trackwork, I couldn't hold him," he said.

"Dan Wheeler looks after him and I just turn up on race day."

Shoot Out and 2009 Cox Plate winner So You Think will meet for the first time in the Liston Stakes (1400m) for which 19 entries were received on Monday.
