Trainer John O'Shea is banking on a quieter ride by Tim Clark to help Jessicabeel recapture her best form in Saturday's Group One AJC Australian Oaks.

O'Shea admitted he made a mistake last Saturday by instructing Clark to ride the Zabeel filly in a forward position in the Group Three Adrian Knox Stakes (2000m).

Jessicabeel was second at the 400 metres but finished 11th.

"It was through no fault of her own or Timmy's," O'Shea said.

"I wanted her ridden more forward and she didn't appreciate that so it was my fault.

"She was wide on the speed in a fast-run race and was a spent force at the 800 metres."

O'Shea believes the key to Jessicabeel running the 2400 metres of the Oaks is to save her up for one last crack at her opposition.

"I won't be making the same mistake Saturday, she will have a quiet ride to ensure she runs the mile and a half," O'Shea said.

"They are going to bowl along too, it's going to be a fast-run race."

TAB Sportsbet has Jessicabeel, who jumps from barrier 12, at $21.

"We've got a lot of ground to make up in seven days, she was more than 10 lengths from the winner, but she can do it," O'Shea said.

Prior to her Adrian Knox run Jessicabeel landed consecutive wins last month, at Canterbury over 1550 metres before scoring at Warwick Farm over 1600 metres.

The winner of the Adrian Knox, the Anthony Cummings-trained Miss Darcey, is the TAB Sportsbet favourite for the Oaks at $4.80.

Miss Darcey defeated Above Perfection by 3-3/4 lengths and displaced the Mick Price-trained Gallica ($6) as favourite after the barrier draw on Wednesday.

Gallica drew gate 15 in the field of 18 plus four emergencies while Miss Darcey came up with barrier two.

Gallica won the Group Two Kewney Stakes (1600m), in which Miss Darcey was unplaced, at Flemington on March 7 and then went to Adelaide to score a decisive win in the Group One Australasian Oaks (2005m) at Morphettville on March 21.

At her first Sydney appearance she finished third to Oaks $6.50 third favourite Purple in the Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) run on a heavy track at Rosehill on April 4.
