Greg Eurell says he is expecting honest stayer Sister Norma to hit the wall at any time soon but he's hoping it is not at Flemington on Saturday.
The Superior Sateen four-year-old is lining up for her 10th run in her current campaign in the $100,000 St John Ambulance (Australia) Victoria Plate (2600m).
The mare won three races for Caulfield trainer John Salanitri, including one at Sandown as a two-year-old.
But Eurell took over her current preparation after four runs in and she won "first-up" for him over 2040m at Moonee Valley on October 29.
Since then Sister Norma has been placed in three of her last four outings including a desperately unlucky second to subsequent Bagot Handicap winner Rentarossa over 2400m at Caulfield on December 26 when beaten a short head after being held up for a run rounding the home turn until the 200m.
Last start she went down by a long neck when runner-up to Sunset Cafe over 2400m at Sandown on January 12.
"She's been up for ever and we're getting ready for her to hit the wall but she just keeps going. She's an absolute titan," Eurell said.
"She's in great shape. She's only a little tot but she's as tough as can be and I've got no fear of running her at the trip, she'll get the 2600 metres all right."
Bred by her managing owner Eric Buttler at his Rangal Park Stud at Euroa, Sister Norma is out of the Nassipour mare Nassi Angel and is closely related to 1991 South Australian Derby winner and Melbourne Cup runner-up Shiva's Revenge.
Chris Symons will again ride Sister Norma who is on the minimum with 54kg, 5kg less than the topweight and Perth Cup winner Guest Wing.
Steven Arnold has been engaged to ride Guest Wing who was sent out at 20-1 when he won the Group Two Perth Cup (2400m) from the 2009 winner Guyno.
