Illuminates ensured she would fetch a good price at the Magic Millions broodmare sales in June when she trounced her rivals in the Listed Aspiration Quality at Randwick on Saturday.

Trainer Graeme Rogerson said after the four-year-old's easy win in the 1600-metre race, her first at stakes level, that the partnership which includes himself and Magic Millions part-owner Gerry Harvey would be dissolved in June.

"That's certainly going to help her at the sales, it was a top performance in her first go over a mile," Rogerson said.

The Randwick trainer was quick to praise the in-form Jim Cassidy for a perfect cold ride.

"That was one of Jimmy's great rides," Rogerson said.

"I told him to ride her quiet and to move her out at the top of the rise and he actually listened to the old boy."

Illuminates, who drifted from $4.20 out to $7, was taken to the outside by Cassidy on straightening and motored home to defeat Imananabaa by a length with Beaucoup a long head away third.

Cassidy said the result was never in doubt.

"Graeme said she would run the mile out strong if she was given a quiet ride and I knew at the top of the straight she had them covered," Cassidy said.

"As soon as they quickened the tempo she just said thanks for coming."

Illuminates was stakes-placed twice last year, finishing second in both the Listed Nivison and the Group Three Research Stakes, and was third in the Listed Carrington Stakes at Randwick in January.
