Iamzeus, one of Danny O'Brien's three Australian Guineas prospects, makes his much-anticipated return to racing when he takes on older horses in the Betfair Handicap at Sandown on Wednesday.

The O'Reilly colt has raced only twice for a three-year-old maiden win over 1200m on the Geelong ThoroughTrack and a narrow defeat when runner-up to Dr Doute's over 1430m at Flemington, both in September.

"He's done very well. He had a good spring break and had two weeks down with Peter Morgan before coming back to the stable to get ready for the autumn," O'Brien said.

"He's a lightly-raced colt with a big future. He showed there is plenty there with his first two starts."

O'Brien set Iamzeus for the Caulfield Guineas last spring but the colt was spelled after he failed to make the final field.

Craig Williams, fresh from winning Monday's Group Three Hobart Cup aboard Gotta Keep Cool, takes the ride on Iamzeus who drew barrier nine in the 14-horse field.

The colt is currently at $17 in TAB Sportsbet's fixed odds market on the Group One $750,000 Guineas (1600m) at Flemington on March 7.

Stablemate Lucky Thunder, placed in both the Carbine Club Stakes and Sandown Guineas last spring, is at $17 while another stablemate Keano, a Flemington 1400m winner, is at $13.

The David Hayes-trained Nicconi, an impressive winner of Sunday's Wellington Racing Club Stakes (1400m), currently shares $4.80 Guineas favouritism with Caulfield Guineas winner Whobegotyou who trainer Mark Kavanagh says is still a chance to run in the race despite a foot abscess delaying his autumn campaign.

Among the main chances in Wednesday's 0-89 event over 1200m are the Peter Snowden-trained Dealers, Nine Tales from the Mick Price stable and Zivalee who is prepared by Peter Moody.

Dealers is resuming following a long neck second to Opter over 1200m at Rosehill in October.

The Viscount five-year-old hasn't been out of a place at 1200m, his latest win being at that trip at Randwick two starts back on September 27.

Nine Tales is unbeaten in two starts since being gelded and having a 10-month layoff.

The Tale Of The Cat four-year-old won over 1300m on the Sandown Hillside circuit, beating Ponte De Lima and Zivalee, at his latest appearance on January 14.

Zivalee, a four-year-old by French Deputy, won over 1200m on the Lakeside track on January 7 before being placed on the Hillside track a week later.
