Injury-plagued four-year-old I Am Invincible has made a stunning return to racing at Warwick Farm.

I Am Invincible was having his first start for the training partnership of Michael, Wayne and John Hawkes since being transferred from Toby Edmonds.

Ridden by Kerrin McEvoy, I Am Invincible raced close to the speed before skipping clear on straightening and going on to defeat Ledger by 1-3/4 lengths in the Hoxton Park Handicap (1000m).

I Am Invincible was having his first start since he beat only one runner home in the Group Three San Domenico Stakes in August last year and Michael Hawkes was pleased with what he saw.

"He's been with us for a while now and we've eased him into it because he's had a few niggles, but it was great to see him go like that," Hawkes said.

"We'll try and step him up to Saturday class soon but we won't be rushing anything."

Sydney's premier jockey Blake Shinn scored an early race-to-race double when he won on the Gerald Ryan-trained Mazuka in the Sadleir Maiden Handicap (1400m).

Shinn parked Mazuka off the speed throughout the race with the Chris Waller-trained Pay And Play showing the way in front.

Mazuka, who started the $2.70 favourite, powered home to defeat the fast-finishing Delano by 1-3/4 lengths with Romany Star a half-length away third.

Earlier, Shinn steered the Gary Portelli-trained Komachi to an upset win in the Free Entry Today Maiden Handicap (1400m).

Komachi started at $14 and scored comfortably while $1.70 Bab Al Shams ran a disappointing fourth with McEvoy in the saddle.

Ryan celebrated a winning double when Ego's Dare scored a commanding frontrunning victory in the Heckenberg Handicap (1200m).

Ridden by Brad Stewart, Ego's Dare pinched a break on straightening and went on to defeat Shaketheground by 1-1/2 lengths.

"Credit goes to Brad, he rides all of the horses work and deserves credit for this, it was a top ride," Ryan said.

"He's a pretty smart horse this bloke and we'll freshen him up and take him to the Gold Coast for the Magic Millions in January."

The Hussonet four-year-old now has three wins from six starts.
