From The Vault has scored an impressive debut victory at Canterbury, continuing the winning run for prominent owner Peter Horwitz with Charge Forward juveniles this season.

The youngster, who started at $5, finished powerfully to defeat $1.80 favourite Circle Of Power by two lengths in Wednesday's McGrath Foundation Lunch Maiden (1250m).

Horwitz is also the owner of early Golden Slipper favourite Solar Charged, also by Charge Forward, who was a dominant five-length winner of her only race start to date in November.

From The Vault's victory was trainer Mark De Monfort's first city winner for Horwitz who has been a big supporter of the Warwick Farm-based trainer.

"Of the first four horses I had in my stable, two of them were Peter's," De Montfort said.

The victory was not a shock to De Montfort who has a good opinion of From The Vault.

"I don't run times with him (on the training track) but I said to Peter that he reminds me a lot of McClintock," De Montfort said.

"He's a big cumbersome horse who is quite lazy on the track but the one or two times I've tested him he's done well. I would have been disappointed if he didn't win today, to be honest.

"My main concern was a leaderish track but I said to Mitchell (Bell) just to be patient because he's got a good dash."

De Montfort is also looking forward to the return of stable star McClintock in Saturday's Group Two Expressway Stakes.

Horwitz said Solar Charged was likely to resume in the Silver Slipper Stakes at Rosehill on February 27.

A big betting plunge was landed when Sutton Princess rocketed home to win Wednesday's Hyland Race Colours Handicap (1250m).

The filly was backed off the map on TAB Sportsbet fixed odds where she opened at $14 before being hammered in to $5.50.

Trained by Luke Griffith at Scone, Sutton Princess drifted out to $8 on track before she was crunched in to $5 equal favouritism.

"We thought while she was a three-year-old we'd give her a crack in town, she won the Wellington Boot as a two-year-old and we've always had a good opinion of her," Griffith said.
