Leading trainer Rob Heathcote hopes to make the most of a second chance with Cavaliered when the galloper races at Doomben.

Cavaliered, an impressive maiden winner at Eagle Farm a fortnight ago, will be ridden by Larry Cassidy, who replaces apprentice Brent Evans in Wednesday's Race Zone Racing Supplies Handicap (1350m).

Clients of Hong Kong trainer David Hall made an undisclosed offer for Cavaliered following the son of Ferocity's breakthrough win at his eighth start.

Cavaliered subsequently underwent a series of veterinary tests which involved taking 56 x-rays but one glitch was enough for the sale to fall over.

"The Hong Kong vet tests are very stringent," Heathcote said.

"He had 56 x-rays taken and only one raised a minor concern but it was enough for the sale not to proceed.

"Now the sale is off he'll stay with me but there's already some interest being shown from Singapore."

Heathcote's stable has been in brilliant form lately and he currently holds a 2-1/2-win lead over Patinack Farm's trainer John Thompson in the Brisbane trainers' premiership.

Heathcote has four runners entered on the seven-event program and has strong prospects for a treble with Gondola Girl in the Lyndhurst Stud Handicap (1350m) and Jess Sar Belle in the Fujitsu Plate (1650m).

"I think Gondola Girl and Cavaliered are my best chances and Jess Sar Belle's been going very well since she won her last two at Ipswich and Doomben," he said.

"Cavaliered is racing against older horses this time but I've got a good opinion of him even though he's second-up and going to 1350 metres."

Cavaliered showed last campaign he had a good future after finishing fourth to stablemate Buffering in an 1110-metre Two-Year-Old Plate at Ipswich in May before going down in a photo to Bianca Jewel over 1400 metres at Eagle Farm in July.

Gondola Girl is a half-sister to multiple Group One winner and top sire Show A Heart.

The Thorn Park four-year-old scored an impressive victory when she stormed home to win in class three company over 1350 metres at Doomben last week.

"She's flying right now and is in the best form of her life," Heathcote said.

"She's in a small field so I expect her to win but the tempo of the race might be come concern."
