Trainer Gerald Ryan has not given up on a Golden Rose start for Hinchinbrook who missed his scheduled lead-up with a temperature.

The colt had to be withdrawn from Saturday's Starlight Stakes but a day later his temperature was back to normal, fuelling hope he could still get to the $1 million Golden Rose (1400m) on August 28.

"His temperature was normal this afternoon and he is very bright in himself," Ryan said.

"I'll see how he works over the next couple of days. If his temperature is normal when we gallop him then there's a slim hope he can get to the Golden Rose.

"If he is okay after a couple of days work then my plan would be to put him in 1000 metre barrier trial on Friday and then go to the Golden Rose.

"I wouldn't consider putting him under race conditions on Saturday."

The Up And Coming Stakes at Warwick Farm on Saturday will be the lead-up for the Clarry Conners-trained Decision Time.

Runner-up to Crystal Lily in the Golden Slipper, Decision Time ran third in the San Domenico last Saturday week at his first start as a three-year-old.

He will now be ridden by Hugh Bowman after Stathi Katsidis was outed for his winning ride on Shoot Out in the Liston Stakes at Caulfield.

Toorak Toff and Masquerader are the new TAB Sportsbet favourites for the Golden Rose ahead of Squamosa at $6.

Crystal Lily, beaten by Panipique in her season return in Saturday's Quezette Stakes at Caulfield, is out to $11 with Hinchinbrook at $13.

Toorak Toff was an impressive winner of Saturday's Vain Stakes at Caulfield while Masquerader ran a slashing second to Squamosa in the Run To The Rose at Rosehill, giving the winner five kilograms.
