Ausworld's new-found maturity this preparation has in-form trainer Greg Hickman confident the rising five-year-old will relish his step up in distance at Canterbury on Wednesday.

The Warwick Farm horseman celebrated a winning double at Randwick on Saturday courtesy of Altier and Allaboutus and is hopeful Ausworld can maintain the stable's good run in the Quickflow Plumbing Handicap.

Ausworld, who is part-owned by Hickman's daughter Jacqueline, has finished third at his last two assignments over 1600 metres at Randwick last month and at Rosehill over 1500 metres in Saturday company on July 18.

Prior to that the gelding scored a comfortable half-length win over Zakynthos Expectus over 1550 metres with apprentice Tommy Berry in the saddle at Canterbury on June 16.

His Wednesday assignment over 1900 metres takes him into unknown territory but Hickman is confident he is now ready to run the distance.

"I've always thought he could run a bit of a trip but he was just too immature in the past," Hickman said.

"But this preparation we've seen him mature so much more and now he switches off in his runs and settles nicely and that's why this race looks so good for him."

Ausworld is a son of Nuclear Freeze, a full-brother to the legendary Danehill, and is out of Amarjet, a mare by Group One-winning sprinter Jetball.

He carries the topweight of 58.5kg but Hickman is confident regular jockey Grant Buckley will get the job done.

"The horse has done so well since the run and Grant knows him so well, he'll have him just off the speed somewhere," Hickman said.

The Canterbury track was rated a heavy (9) on Tuesday which is of no concern to Hickman with Ausworld handling the going nicely in his past three outings.

Hickman, who enjoyed a celebratory dinner with his wife Erica and friends after Saturday's Randwick meeting, paid credit to hardworking hoop Buckley who booted home Allaboutus.

"Grant comes in once or twice a week to ride work and he has to be rewarded for that and not only is he a very good jockey but he is prepared to ride just about anywhere," Hickman said.

"He's a very good rider and a good person to have on our team."

Ausworld boasts a solid record with four wins and four placings from 12 starts with three of his victories coming over 1200 metres.
