Bush trainer Barry Henry is confident he can pull off a masterful performance when former Victorian mare Pray For Me makes her Brisbane debut at Eagle Farm on Monday.

Pray For Me was formerly trained by John McArdle at Mornington but her Queensland-based owner Vince Mason opted to send the mare to Henry at the end of her last preparation.

Mason's relationship with Henry dates back to the 1980s when the Allora-based trainer prepared sprinter Sao Borja to win seven city races including a Listed event at Doomben.

Although she hasn't raced since August, Henry has had Pray For Me in work since November and the multiple city winner has been asked to lump 58kg in her return to racing in the Subiaco Hair Class 6 (1500m).

Henry is well aware of the onerous task ahead of Pray For Me but is confident the five-year-old is fit enough to achieve it.

"She's a high class mare and if she holds her Victorian form I'm confident she'll win a good race during the carnival," he said.

"We'll all be a lot wiser after Monday but she's done everything I have asked of her and she is very fit.

"She hasn't trialled but you don't need to trial horses who know what to do on race day."

Henry said Pray For Me was originally ready to return to racing in January before the floods which devastated Toowoomba and Allora curtailed her preparation.

But Henry said the setback had proven beneficial for Pray For Me.

"She was ready to go in January but I had to stop everything when the floods came," Henry said.

"But it's been a blessing in disguise. She used to be really lean but she has blossomed into a beautiful mare since she had the break.

"You wouldn't see a nicer mare now, she's big and strong and she's in perfect order."

Pray For Me led throughout to score back-to-back wins at Sandown over 1700 and 1600 metres last year before she finished runner-up at Flemington over 2000 metres.

Henry has engaged Larry Cassidy to partner PrayFor Me in her return and said she would likely assume her customary pacemaker's role.

"She'll more than likely lead," Henry said.

"She races well that way and we won't be changing her racing pattern."
