Gold Coast trainer Bryan Guy is hopeful a long and successful association with jockey Larry Cassidy can continue at Doomben.

Cassidy is booked to ride the Guy-trained French Move who makes her stable debut in Wednesday's Carlton Draught Handicap (1350m).

The former Sydney rider, who has been struggling with a finger injury, has made a huge impact on Brisbane racing since his recent move north.

"I've had a lot of luck with Larry over a number of years," Guy said.

"Since he's been riding in Brisbane full-time he's only had three rides for me for two winners aboard King Leonidas and Cool Edition.

"Cool Edition is in the same race tomorrow as French Move but I'll save her for Doomben on Saturday and Larry will ride her as well."

The Guy-Cassidy combination teamed for a Group One win with Ravarda in the 1995 QTC Classic, the 1600-metre two-year-old feature at Eagle Farm now known as the TJ Smith.

"Larry won a Group One for me on Ravarda and he also rode Ravarda that year in the Brambles Classic and the Golden Slipper," Guy said.

Ravarda won the Group Three Brambles Classic (1200m) at Kembla Grange by five lengths from Burrito before finishing 10th to Flying Spur in the Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill.

Guy expects a strong performance from French Move who is owned by Judy Wanless, wife of wealthy businessman Ron Wanless.

"I'm not sure who trained her before me but she started her career in Brisbane before she went to Sydney," Guy said.

"I've given her two barrier trials and she performed fairly in both.

"She's starting off in a 1350-metre race but the distance won't be a worry for her and neither will a wet track if we get more rain.

"She has run second over 1600 metres on a heavy track at Warwick Farm and she's also been placed on a slow track."

Guy will have only one other Doomben runner - Aquaterra in the Jacobs Creek Sparkling Handicap (1350m).

The five-year-old, a Jason Taylor mount, won for the popular Gold Coast lightweight rider over 1200 metres at Caloundra on January 11 before finishing third for him in a 1200-metre Class Three at Eagle Farm on January 28.

"He's drawn well (barrier one) and I expect he'll also run well again," Guy said.
