Trainer Bryan Guy will renew an association going back almost two decades when former New Zealand jockey Grant Cooksley partners Lohan at Eagle Farm.

Guy has declared Lohan a definite starter despite a heavy track for Wednesday's Paul Ward's 40th Birthday Handicap (1830m).

Cooksley has relocated from his homeland to live in Queensland but won't rush a decision where to base himself.

Known as "The Iceman" in his heyday, Cooksley got off to a flying start to his new Queensland venture by riding a double at his first meeting at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

Cooksley had his first ride for Guy in 1993, a year after he began his training career in Sydney.

"I couldn't tell you how long I've known him but we go back a very long way," Guy said.

"He had his first ride for me not long after I started training in Sydney and he ran second on Square The Circle in the (1993) Villiers Stakes.

"He's ridden a lot of winners for me over the years and it's good to see him riding in Queensland.

"It's good Queensland has got some very good riders here now and it's just a pity we don't have decent prizemoney."

Guy is confident Lohan will acquit herself well over a middle distance for the first time in the Benchmark 80 race.

The four-year-old was ridden by apprentice Jessica Drury last start when a close third to Two Times A Lady on a heavy (10) at Eagle Farm on March 7.

The daughter of Choisir previously finished third to Start Again on a slow track over 1600 metres at Eagle Farm on February 1.

"She's been racing consistently and her last run in particular wasn't too bad," Guy said.

"She only just got beaten after being caught on the worst part of the track on the inside.

"This will be her first time past 1600 metres but every jockey that's been on her says she's looking for further.

"I know she can handle the wet so that's not a problem."

Guy has only one other runner at the meeting, Funny Falve, a Glen Colless mount in the Bollinger Champagne Handicap (1200m).
