Racing NSW steward Marc Van Gestel says there is no doubt Wednesday's Takeover Target Stakes meeting at Gosford will proceed.
Van Gestel said stewards would carry out a race day inspection of the track on the NSW Central Coast.
"The Gosford club's track manager Steve Scollard walked the track today (Tuesday) and said it was a heavy 10 and has advised us that everything is safe," Van Gestel said.
"There's no doubt about the meeting proceeding. The weather is good but stewards will inspect the track in the morning when we expect to give the all clear."
Canberra trainer Nick Olive is confident Grand Rhumba can make amends for his narrow defeat in the Takeover Target Prelude at Gosford on June 9 in the Listed Takeover Target Stakes (1200m).
The Rhythm four-year-old was slow to begin and tightened for room before finishing a nose second to Hadaaf in the 1000-metre race.
"He should have won," Olive said.
"He can be a bit hesitant to get going when he goes to a new track and that was the case last start."
Grand Rhumba has never raced on a heavy track but Olive has seen enough from the talented gelding to suggest he will handle the conditions.
"Just looking at his galloping style I think he'll get through it well and he did win nicely at Goulburn on a slow last year and it was slow at Gosford last start too and he got through it," Olive said.
"We don't have to do much with him between runs, he doesn't work that much between runs and spends most of his time swimming.
"We've always known he could gallop but it's taken us until now to work him out and that he likes being kept on the fresh side."
Grand Rhumba, who has 10 wins and four placings from 25 starts, will jump from barrier 13 and be ridden by Corey Brown.
"It's not a great draw but the track could be pretty cut up by the time they race," Olive said.
"We're lucky in that he can be anywhere in the run, we just have to be positive out of the gates."
Grand Rhumba was second favourite at $7 with TAB Sportsbet on Tuesday behind the Bart Cummings-trained Kroner at $3.
