Champion jockey Damien Oliver has warmed up for Saturday's Turnbull Stakes meeting with five winners at Geelong.

Oliver rode the winners of the first five races and his haul included a quartet for trainer Danny O'Brien.

It is the sixth time Oliver has ridden five winners at a meeting while O'Brien's four-win haul is the best in a 10-year training career.

He was an apprentice when he rode five winners at Kyneton (February, 1993) while he also booted home a quintet at Sale (February, 2000), Kilmore (February, 2001), Sandown (November, 2001) and Caulfield (October 2003).

"It has been a while since I have had a big day like this," Oliver said.

Oliver rode O'Brien's first ever Group One winner Porto Roca in the 2001 Coolmore Classic in Sydney and they have formed an alliance for the spring carnival.

"We are looking to use Damien a bit," O'Brien said.

"He is the best rider in Victoria, if not Australia, and he is not aligned to anyone.

"Today is the first day we have got together and we have got four winners which is good."

Oliver booted home Giant Jewels for the stable and followed up on stablemates Thornado, Buffett and Reputable.

The Brian Mayfield-Smith-trained Looks Perfect was Oliver's other winning ride.

Both Oliver and O'Brien are hoping Thursday's result will be the forerunner to a big Saturday at Flemington where they again team up with Absolut Glam in the Blazer Stakes and Alexander Of Hales in the Group One Turnbull Stakes.

O'Brien said he was expecting a big run from Absolut Glam after she was beaten in a photo by Typhoon Zed in the Group One Manikato Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley on September 13.

"Saturday's race probably looks stronger than the Manikato but she is going well and I'm happy with her," O'Brien said.

Absolut Glam was today the $3.60 favourite for the Group Two Blazer (1410m) ahead of Mimi Lebrock and Forensics were both at $4.60.

O'Brien said Absolut Glam's Group One spring targets were the Myer Classic (1600m) at Flemington on November 1 and the Emirates Stakes (1600m) on the last day of the Cup carnival on November 8.

Alexander Of Hales is O'Brien's second string to Caulfield Cup winner Master O'Reilly in the Turnbull Stakes and is one of the outsiders in Saturday's field.
