Joe Pride believes Group-placed Geared Up is ready to produce his best preparation and expects a bold second-up showing from him in the Macau Jockey Club Trophy at Randwick on Saturday.

By Testa Rossa, four-year-old Geared Up made a solid return with a 1-1/4-length second to Border Rebel over 1000m at Warwick Farm on November 17.

It was his first start since he failed to beat a runner home on a heavy track at Rosehill in May.

"He ran very well first-up, he's one of those very honest horses who is rarely out of the money and he'll be thereabouts again Saturday," Pride said.

"He's in for his best prep, he's four now and gave me the indication he was a little bit immature before.

"He's never too far away from some nice horses and has a Group placing already."

Geared Up was just over a length third to Fravashi in the Group Three South Pacific Classic (1400m) at Randwick in April.

He was also five lengths second to Northern Meteor in the Listed Brian Crowley Stakes (1200m) at Randwick in October last year.

Northern Meteor went on to win the Group One Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) at Flemington at his next start.

"This is a tough field and I can see him taking a trail from barrier four and being midfield or something like that," Pride said.

Geared Up's opposition includes stakeswinners Wasted Emotions, Rubinda, Prince Braeman and Double Dare.

Pride said the main target for Geared Up would be the $500,000 Magic Millions Cup (1400m) on the Gold Coast on January 9.

"Occasionally you get some nice horses going for it but it's a race where the prizemoney is well above what you'd get for racing against those same horses any other time," Pride said.

Stablemate and impressive midweek debut winner Krui Crusader lines up in the McGrath Estate Agents Handicap over the same distance as Geared Up's race, 1150m.

Krui Crusader defeated Flow Concept by a length at his only start on November 11 at Canterbury over 1100 metres.

"He was very good the other day and now he has to take that other step into Saturday company," Pride said.

"They don't make it easy to make that transition from winning a midweek maiden in town.

"At Canterbury his times stacked up with the other races and that's always a good sign and he's gone forward since then, he'll go well."

Pride believes the time is right for Dubai To Sydney to break his long drought.

The four-year-old has one win from 18 starts with his only victory coming as a two-year-old on debut at Randwick on Australia Day last year.

Dubai To Sydney runs in the Arrowfield Stud Handicap (1800m).

He is coming off a couple of second placings, most recently when a length behind Love And Kisses over 1500 metres at Rosehill on November 14.

"He has to cast off the tag of being a non-winner but I think I've found the right race for him," Pride said.

"He's up against primarily the same horses he raced against last start and I think he's improved more than them and that should show."
