Apprentice Daniel Ganderton continued his surge in the Sydney jockeys' premiership with a winning treble at Rosehill on Saturday.

With a host leading riders either suspended, injured or riding at the Gold Coast for Magic Millions day, Ganderton has been making the most of his opportunities.

The 20-year-old, who is indentured to Gai Waterhouse, brought up the treble on the Joe Pride-trained Anatomica after earlier wins on Moti for his boss and Handsupfordetroit for trainer Grahame Begg.

Ganderton, who was lured from Tasmania in March last year by Waterhouse, landed a double at Randwick last Saturday and has moved to fourth on the premiership with 24 winners.

Rosehill has been a happy hunting ground for Ganderton, who scored his first treble there in October last year.

The hoop gave credit to fellow Waterhouse stable riders Nash Rawiller who is suspended and Blake Shinn who is expected to return from injury at Rosehill next Saturday.

Ganderton, who is a clear leader in the apprentices' premiership, was level with Melbourne Cup winning jockey Shinn with 21 winners prior to Saturday's meeting.

"Those guys have been great to me, it's a great luxury having riders of that calibre to work with," Ganderton said.

"And Gai has been great too, she tells you how it is and that's really helped me.

"I've just been doing my best to make the most of the opportunities while the other boys are away and things are going well."

Handsupfordetroit is trained by Grahame Begg who brought up a winning double with Hotel Casino, ridden by another emerging apprentice Jamie Quinnell.

Hotel Casino settled better than midfield in the Summer Racing Welter (1200m) and Quinnell timed his run to perfection.

Hotel Casino beat Ego's Dare by a short neck with Beehives another 1-1/2 lengths third.

Begg was also at the Gold Coast for the Magic Millions raceday and sales but was ably represented by his brother Neil and father Neville.

"The stable is going really well," Neville Begg said.

"Grahame only has a small team but they are winning which is the main thing."
