Freereturn will be aiming to pick up where he left off when he returns from a spell at Moonee Valley on Saturday.

The gelding, who was a maiden when he resumed last campaign and won over 1000m at Bendigo last July, goes first-up in the 0-89 Handicap (1200m).

The five-year-old won six races and was placed in his other two of eight starts last preparation.

Freereturn is after a hat-trick of city wins following a 1200m win at Moonee Valley on November 11 followed by a 1300m victory at Sandown on November 26.

"He did a super job last preparation but he's only had one jump-out going into this Saturday and he's probably going to need the run," trainer Jason Warren said.

"He's probably going to be a touch underdone for this race but there is nothing for him the following week so I want to kick him off this week which will bring him on for his next run."

Andrew Mallyon, who was on Freereturn when he won his Bendigo maiden, will take the ride replacing Ben Melham who will be riding star stablemate Bel Sprinter in Saturday's Group Two Challenge Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill.

New stable acquisition Summarise was also nominated for the 1200m sprint at the Valley but will not take on Freereturn as Warren favours him resuming in Sunday's $50,000 Weary Dunlop Hcp (1200m) at Wangaratta.

When prepared by Steven Theodore, the Lonhro gelding won twice at Sandown, over 2100m in January last year and over 2400m last June.

The five-year-old was runner-up to Can Do in the Swan Hill Cup (1600m) in June and ran ninth to Warrior Within in the Listed Grafton Cup (2350m) last July.

"He's a lovely horse. He came to us last preparation and I gave him a jump-out and I wasn't exactly happy with him so I turned him out," Warren said.

"He's had a nice spell and he's in very good order. He's only had the one jump-out too but he's the sort of horse who could probably go to the races a bit fresh and run well."

Freereturn, Summarise and stablemates Agasha and Bet On Faith, who are both nominated for the Super Vobis Three-Year-Old Hcp (1000m), are all down to gallop at Moonee Valley on Tuesday morning.

There were 31 nominations for the 1200m sprint including Stratcombe, who was runner-up to Amaethon in Saturday's Thoroughbred Club Cup (1200m) at Caulfield, Gold Sand, Spirited Eagle and Sense Of Sun who won the Palmerston Sprint in Darwin last July.
