Magic Millions sales reject Flavoured will earn a chance at black type during the winter if she can maintain her unbeaten record at Doomben on Wednesday.
Scone trainer Paul Messara has Flavoured and stablemate Hussta La Vista entered for the Jacobs Creek Sparkling Handicap but the track condition will determine if both will start in the 1200-metre Class Three event.
However, with Doomben currently rated a heavy eight and the forecast for rain, Messara is resigned to running only Flavoured who will be ridden by Christian Reith.
Flavoured was selected by Arrowfield Stud to be sold at the Magic Millions yearling sales at the Gold Coast two years ago but did not make the final draft.
"We couldn't get her into the Magic Millions sales and now's she won three from three," Messara said.
Flavoured, a daughter of Hussonet, didn't race as a two-year-old before scoring on debut in a 900-metre three-year-old maiden at Newcastle on Anzac Day.
Messara then sent her north to target some black-type races towards the end of the Brisbane winter carnival.
Flavoured won her first Queensland start with a narrow victory against her own age over 1100-metres on the cushion track at Caloundra on May 9 before a dominant win over the same distance in a Class Three at the same venue on May 25.
"Her second win was super. She sat four deep and still won," Messara said.
Messara is hopeful Flavoured can maintain her perfect record even though she's untested on a track worse than dead.
"I'm hoping she'll run well again and if she does I'll run her at Ipswich next start and then take her to Caloundra for the Guineas," he said.
"After that she'll probably stay on as there's some nice stakes races coming up which should suit her."
The Listed Sunshine Coast Guineas (1600m) will be run at Caloundra on June 27, two weeks after the TL Cooney Handicap (1350m) at Ipswich.
Messara has been to Queensland with Hussta La Vista in two previous campaigns and also plans to target some black-type races with her towards the end of the winter carnival.
However, he doesn't want to risk flattening the four-year-old who has not started since finishing seventh to Upper Echelon on Randwick's Kensington track in November.
"I don't want to run Hussta La Vista first-up on a rain affected track," Messara said.
"I did that with her last campaign when she was up in Brisbane when she ran second to Albert The Fat on a slow track at Eagle Farm.
"It was a strong race and Burdekin Blues finished behind us in third place but the run flattened Hussta La Vista.
"She's won twice on heavy tracks but I want to avoid soft tracks until she's rock-hard fit."
