The Group Three George Moore Stakes fell victim to the weather for the second week running following a torrential downpour and has now been abandoned.

The final three races at Eagle Farm on Saturday were called off despite officials shortening the time between races to try to beat the impending storm.

The George Moore Stakes was originally scheduled for last week but was postponed following a similar storm at Eagle Farm which deemed the track unsafe.

Racing Queensland stewards called this Saturday's meeting off after the sixth race which was run in torrential down.

"We had more than 30 millimetres of rain fall and it was worse than last week," chief steward Wade Birch said.

"It meant the water table rose considerably and there was a lot of surface water on the track."

A jockeys' delegation after the sixth race complained of poor visibility but it was the surface water which eventually led to the meeting being abandoned after stewards and jockeys walked the track.

Racing Queensland Limited moved quickly to add the Listed Gold Edition Plate (1200m) to next week's Doomben meeting while abandoning the George Moore Stakes.

A $25,000 Open Handicap over 2100 metres will be added to the Eagle Farm meeting on Wednesday while an extra $25,000 in prizemoney will be added to an Open Handicap (1110m) next Saturday taking the prizemoney to $75,000.

The Gold Coast meeting was also lost after just two races while six races were run at Ballina in northern NSW before the final three were called off.

Of the races run at Eagle Farm, two-year-olds I'm The One and Military Grace staked their claims for the Magic Millions Classic at the Gold Coast next month with impressive victories.
