Trainer Darryl Hansen will consider every option, including a Sydney campaign, with exciting sprinter Essington if the four-year-old wins the Listed Falvelon Quality at Eagle Farm.

Hansen, who moved to Brisbane from Mackay last year before relocating to Caloundra, will clinch a career highlight if Essington is successful in Saturday's 1200-metre feature.

Hansen was runner-up in the Townsville, Rockhampton and Mackay trainers' premierships last season and made regular successful hit-and-run trips to Brisbane before deciding to settle in the southeast corner of the state.

Essington, a $50,000 cast-off from the Lloyd Williams' stable in Melbourne, is easily the best horse Hansen has trained.

The son of Redoute's Choice has won seven times in his 13-start career with all his victories coming from his past eight starts.

"He's come a long way since winning a maiden in Mackay last year," Hansen said.

"I've been progressing him along slowly and the penny has finally dropped.

"He was very green when I first got him but he's switched on now."

Chris Munce will again partner Essington after winning on him at his past two Eagle Farm starts.

Hansen has thought about a possible Sydney trip but wants to confer with Essington's owner Marino Katsanevas, a Townsville painting contractor, before making any definite plans.

"I've been throwing him in the deep end every start and each time he comes up swimming," Hansen said.

"I don't know how much ability he has but the original plan was to win his first two starts and then see where we'll go with him.

"I set him to win first-up at Eagle Farm which he did easily and I want to get this race out of the way before I sit down with his owner to decide his future.

"I've given Sydney a thought but I haven't made any real plans just yet."

Hansen believes Essington should have no trouble running 1600 metres and is hopeful he'll measure up to the Brisbane winter carnival.

"He's won up to 1500 metres so I can't see why he won't get a mile (1600 metres)," he said.

"This race is still only 1200 metres but I've done my best to butter him up again and I've had to back off the accelerator with him."

Hansen has almost filled his quota of 30 boxes at Caloundra since deciding to settle on the Sunshine Coast last month.
