Group One winner Erewhon missed the autumn carnival due to illness but is in line for a late cameo in Brisbane.
The Spring Champion Stakes winner has been progressing well with two Sydney barrier trials in recent weeks and trainer Peter Snowden has pencilled in May 28 at Randwick as the grey gelding's return date.
"He'll only have a small preparation," Snowden said.
"He'll probably have another trial and then resume on the 28th (of May) at Randwick and after he runs on that date we'll see if we give him one run in Brisbane in the Queensland Guineas over a mile."
The Group Two Queensland Guineas (1600m) is at Eagle Farm on June 11.
"If he runs well enough on the 28th he'll go for the Guineas and if not he'll go to the paddock for a short spell and then we'll get him ready for the spring."
Erewhon came through the grades last spring to record a Group One victory in the Spring Champion where he defeated stablemate Retrieve.
Only three starts earlier the three-year-old won a Gosford maiden over 1600 metres and then backed it up with a midweek win over the same journey on his home track at Warwick Farm.
That performance earned him a start in the Gloaming Stakes (1800m) where he ran a gallant second to Retrieve before turning the tables two weeks later.
The talented galloper's autumn campaign had to be aborted before it even began after the gelding contracted colic and had to have surgery.
"He has been off for a long time, he had colic surgery and got very sick, but he's coming together really well and his trials have been great," Snowden said.
"I haven't asked him to do much at all in either of them but he's wanted to do it so his enthusiasm to race is still there.
"What he does on the 28th will determine what we do with him."
Snowden has a strong team heading towards the major races in Brisbane including honest mare Beaded who is being aimed at the Group One Doomben 10,000 and Group One Stradbroke Handicap.
Beaded has been Group One placed four times and her worst finish in a 19 start career is her fourth in last year's Stradbroke.
