Sydney colt Delago Bolt will have his first gallop up the straight at Flemington on Tuesday as he prepares for Saturday's star-studded Group Two Danehill Stakes.

Trainer Gary Portelli is hoping the straight course will negate the problem which occurred when Delago Bolt ran off the track rounding the home turn in the Up And Coming Stakes at Randwick.

Racing NSW stewards said the colt would have to trial around a bend before he raced again but Portelli got the all-clear for the Danehill.

"He's fine to run up the straight, he won't have to trial," Portelli said.

Portelli has no fears about Delago Bolt tackling the likes of the unbeaten dual stakes winner Black Caviar, Kindergarten Stakes winner Wanted and AJC Sires' Produce winner Manhattan Rain.

"He's going up against the best three-year-olds around at the moment and I can't wait to get there on Monday night," Portelli said.

"There's nothing wrong him, he just got a couple of bumps early last start and was a bit fresh and got charging.

"He just locked his jaw, it was just one of those things, it was very uncharacteristic of him.

"We'll probably take the blinkers off him and put the winkers on, he might just get a bit keen otherwise."

Delago Bolt will have an 800 metre jump out to give him a look at Flemington.

"I'm really excited about his chances," Portelli said.

"He's a lovely horse, I don't get attached to too many horses but I've got a bond with this one.

"He's got great character and is a beautiful animal and I hope he does well for the stable because he's one of those horses you warm to.

"He's a fantastic colt, you walk past the stable and he yells out to you. He won't bite you, he just hugs you, he's got expression in his eyes and is a different horse to most."

Delago Bolt won the Listed Black Opal Stakes (1200m) at Canberra in March before having no luck when ninth in the Golden Slipper where he was checked a couple of times from the 800 metres.

Luck deserted him again in his next start in the AJC Sires' Produce where he was checked near the 1200 metres before running sixth.

Manhattan Rain continues to please trainer Gai Waterhouse and galloped to her satisfaction going the Melbourne way between races at Randwick during the week.

The Encosta De Lago colt has not raced since his third to Onemorenomore in the Group One Champagne Stakes (1600m) in April and has been given a couple of barrier trials this month.
