Unbeaten three-year-old Definitely Ready did what almost equated to a lap of honour before romping home to his third career win at Caulfield.

Definitely Ready ended a horror 24 hours for trainer Mark Kavanagh and jockey Michael Rodd when he scored a 3-1/2 length win in the Rokk Ebony Cup (1000m), but not before putting another scare into the stable when he broke through the gates.

The drama unfolded with Noesis burrowing under the barriers which fired up Definitely Ready who forced open his adjacent stall.

After galloping riderless Noesis was a late scratching but Rodd was able to rein in Definitely Ready who eventually pulled up near the winning post before returning to the start.

On Tuesday, Rodd lost his Caulfield Cup mount when the Kavanagh-trained Maldivian pulled up with a tendon injury after trackwork.

Group Two-winning stablemate Cats Whisker was also found to have bone chips in both front fetlocks.

While relieved that Definitely Ready was able to run and win on Wednesday, Kavanagh was not interested in reflecting on the loss of two of his spring stars in the last 24 hours.

"Let's just forget that," Kavanagh said. "Let's get on with it."

Kavanagh said he was now looking forward to running Definitely Ready in the Schweppes Tonic (1000m) at Flemington on Melbourne Cup day.

"No doubt he well get further than 1000 metres but this stage there is no reason to push him past that," Kavanagh said.

"We will give him one more run and then tip him out and bring him back for the autumn."

Rodd was always confident that Definitely Ready would be allowed to run after breaking through the barriers.

"I didn't get out of half-pace," Rodd said. "I went faster than that to the barrier on him."

Definitely Ready had previously won by seven lengths at Morphettville and by nearly two lengths at Sandown.

Rodd said Definitely Ready was always going to make it three wins in a row and again won the race in the middle stages.

"He doesn't want to go too fiercely early and that's where he conserves his energy," Rodd said.

"From the half-mile (800m) to the 400 metres he breaks their hearts, has them all off the bit."

Rodd and Kavanagh made it a winning double when Here De Angels took out the Mitty's Cup (1200m).
