Promising stayer Circle Of Fame is beginning to justify trainer Rod Craig's faith in his ability and will step up to open company at Randwick on Saturday.

The four-year-old has won two of his four starts this spring after a mixed autumn when he showed his trainer enough to suggest he was going to be able to handle distance racing.

Wet tracks prevented him doing his best, particularly in the Queensland Derby when he finished a long way from the winner Riva San after suffering early interference.

But the trip did him the world of good and now Craig is looking to step him up to the 2400 metres of the Christmas and Summer Cups if he measures up in Saturday's 1800m race.

"I've thrown him in the deep end but he's going well enough to give him a chance against these horses," Craig said.

"He didn't have a lot of luck in Queensland with wet tracks and a couple of other things that went wrong.

"He was a bit backward and a bit immature but has derived a lot of benefit from the trip away.

"I'm trying to get him ready for a distance and hopefully get him to races like the Christmas Cup and the Summer Cup.

"Races like that are another step up again but he seems to be getting better and better."

Circle Of Fame is among 13 entries for the open handicap which include Fianchetto who has also put two wins together in recent weeks.

The 2YO Plate (1000m) attracted nine nominations including Readyor, an impressive winner on debut on November 8, and Power Personified, an Exceed And Excel colt from the powerhouse combination of trainer Gai Waterhouse and the Gooree Syndicate.

Swift Alliance was the latest winner for the partnership at Rosehill on Saturday and has been entered for the three-year-old handicap over 1300m.

There were just five entries for the race including Youthful Jack, now with the Rosehill trainer Allan Denham stable after starting his career with seven wins on NSW country and Brisbane metropolitan tracks.
