Guy Walter won four straight Chipping Norton Stakes with champion galloper Tie The Knot and the Warwick Farm trainer is delighted the race is returning to its home on Saturday.

The past two Chipping Nortons have been run at Randwick but the Group One race day returns to the south-western Sydney track on Saturday.

Walter won't have a runner in the main race of the day but has nominated a strong team in support races, including a three-pronged attack on the Group Three Liverpool City Cup, and is looking forward to Saturday racing returning to the Farm.

"The Chipping Norton is a great race, it's a good horse's race," Walter said.

"If you look at the list of winners, normally the best weight-for-age horse of the year wins it. Its rightful place is at Warwick Farm and that's where it should remain."

Tie The Knot won four straight Chipping Nortons from 1999 to 2002 and this year's edition will see Group One winners such as Danleigh, Vision And Power, Purple, Theseo, Rock Kingdom and Road To Rock engaged.

Walter has seven runners nominated for the meeting headed by Bernicia, Lyncean Academy and Twin Wing in the Liverpool City Cup (1300m).

"Bernicia is a nice mare who goes well fresh but it's a very strong race," Walter said.

"I thought the 1300 metres on her home track was a nice place to start so she's been aimed at this for a little while."

Walter's main target with Bernicia is likely to be the Group Two Emancipation Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on April 24 but he has been pleased with her recent work and expects a strong showing first-up from the dual stakeswinner.

Bernicia had an exhibition gallop at Warwick Farm last Wednesday with Lyncean Academy.

The pair clocked 49.47 seconds for the final 800m of the gallop with the final 600m in 34.87s.

"They are both pretty good workers, especially Bernicia," Walter said.

"I think she's quite fit enough to run a forward race."

Lyncean Academy has been given a nine-week let-up since he finished seventh in the Tatt's Cup (2000m) at Randwick on New Year's Day.

"He had a summer campaign and failed in the Tatt's Cup but he's been freshened-up since then," the trainer said.

"We will be looking at some minor races over the carnival (in Sydney)."

The trainer believes Sandberg is an interesting runner in the 2200m Benchmark 90 event.

Sandberg has won four of his nine starts including his past two.

The four-year-old gelding won a Benchmark 64 over 2000m at Canberra on January 8 and then went to Randwick and won a Benchmark 80 over 2400m on January 30.

Sandberg's granddam is Whisked, the dam of Tie The Knot, so a win for him on Chipping Norton day would certainly be fitting.
