Swapping track gallops for the water-walking machine could prove the key to Seeking Attention's chances in the Group One Galaxy at Randwick on Saturday.

The dual stakes placegetter has failed to fire in two runs since her sound seventh to Nicconi in the Group One Lightning Stakes (1000m) at Flemington in January.

Following her unplaced run behind Galaxy rival Dorf Command at Warwick Farm last month, trainer Anthony Cummings went back to the drawing board.

He decided to make some changes to the mare's training regimen and has been pleasantly surprised by the results.

"We took her down to Melbourne and that didn't work out," Cummings said.

"Then coming back here she had a couple of aches and pains after she ran the other day.

"We sent her off to the water walker to try to change her routine around a little bit, get her back on track and get the saddle off her back and since she's come back from that she's been very bright and well."

Seeking Attention prepared for her task in the Galaxy (1100m) with a barrier trial at Randwick on Monday, finishing second to stablemate Red Lord.

Cummings was pleased with that effort and said the fact Red Lord beat her was a reflection on how well he had come back.

"She didn't wear blinkers in the trial and she'll have them back on come Saturday but Red Lord is going pretty good, it's as simple as that," Cummings said of his Stradbroke Handicap-bound gelding.

"The trial was a good confidence builder for her."

Seeking Attention has only raced at Randwick twice before with her best effort a game fourth to Gold Trail in the Group Two The Shorts (1100m) last October.

The Gary Portelli-trained Gold Trail will again be among her rivals on Saturday after returning from a successful campaign in New Zealand where he won the Railway Stakes on New Year's Day.

He is one of three Group One winners in the field along with Typhoon Zed, who claimed the Galaxy and Manikato Stakes in 2008, and last-start Robert Sangster Stakes victor Rostova.

Meanwhile, Cummings will decide on race morning whether Messenger takes her place in the JRA Plate (2000m) at Randwick on Saturday or is saved for the Emancipation Stakes (1600m) a week later.

"We're still tossing up between this and/or the race the following Saturday, the Emancipation, so we'll see what we do but either way she's in good form," Cummings said of the last-start Epona Stakes winner.

He also had Zavite among the original nominations for the JRA Plate but said the BMW runner-up would instead have a solo exhibition gallop between races at Randwick.
