Jockey Craig Williams has a busy time ahead of him just a week after he severed ties with David Hayes and was forced on the sidelines by suspension.

The four-times Melbourne premiership winner returns to riding at Wednesday's Geelong Cup meeting.

He partners three-year-old Manhattan Rain in Saturday's Cox Plate before jetting out to Hong Kong to ride at Sha Tin on Sunday.

Leading apprentice Matthew Chadwick and former Sydney rider Jeff Lloyd are both on the injured list in Hong Kong.

Among the rides Williams missed on Saturday was Caulfield Cup third placegetter Vigor.

His rides at Geelong include New Zealand three-year-old Our Heir Apparent in the Geelong Classic (2206m) and another kiwi Young Centaur in the Cup (2406m).

The Mark Walker-trained Our Heir Apparent has had just two starts, winning his second over 1800 metres by four lengths.

The Zabeel colt is entered for the Victoria Derby while Young Centaur will be trying to cement a place in the Melbourne Cup.

The John Sargent-trained seven-year-old ran second to leading Cup hope Speed Gifted on September 5 but failed to make ground at his next two starts in the JRA Cup and Herbert Power, both won by Alcopop.

Young Centaur won the 2008 Wellington Cup (3200m) and he is by 1995 Melbourne Cup winner Jeune.
