Corey Brown says exciting filly Solar Charged will be allowed to utilise her biggest asset and be ridden aggressively when she resumes in a star-studded San Domenico Stakes at Randwick.

Brown hasn't ridden the filly in a race since a brilliant debut win at Randwick in November and believes using her speed is a key factor in pursuit of a first-up win over 1000m on Saturday.

"I think it's a big asset that she's got in these shorter races, she's got that high cruising speed and she can quicken," Brown said.

"She's not just one-dimensional where she goes the same tempo the whole way. She's an extremely fast horse but she can still find that extra gear when you ask her."

Solar Charged was a brilliant winner of her first two starts before finishing third to Military Rose in the Reisling Stakes and then sixth to Crystal Lily in the Golden Slipper.

Trainer John O'Shea has stated that he learned from Solar Charged's two defeats, saying the filly needs to take advantage of her natural speed and be ridden aggressively.

It is something with which Brown agreed.

"If you let her roll a length quicker she has them under pressure before she even extends so that's a very big asset over these shorter distances," he said.

"I'm very excited about riding her because she's come back bigger and stronger than when I rode her last time in. I think she's a horse that's destined for bigger and better races."

Solar Charged announced she had returned to work in great order with a 7-1/2-length barrier trial win at Rosehill last month with Brown in the saddle.

The filly had impressed in barrier trials leading into her two previous preparations and is unbeaten in two starts first-up.

The daughter of Charge Forward won by five lengths on debut over 1000m in a 2YO Handicap and then resumed in the autumn with a runaway 4-1/2-length Kindergarten Stakes (1100m) win.

"I think it was pretty plain to see in her trial (on July 20) that she's come back in great form," Brown said.

The Group Three event on Saturday is the season's first stakes race for three-year-olds and has attracted a great line-up.

Solar Charged will be joined in the race by Golden Slipper runner-up Decision Time, Pago Pago Stakes winner Brightexpectations and Widden Stakes winner Georgette Silk among others.
