Melbourne Cup-winning jockey Corey Brown believes Ambers Waltz's last-start defeat has her primed for victory in the $2 million Magic Millions Classic at the Gold Coast on Saturday.

A wide barrier, 17, has done nothing to dampen Brown's enthusiasm for the John O'Shea-trained filly's chances in the 1200-metre feature in which she is the $4 favourite with TAB Sportsbet fixed odds.

Last time out Ambers Waltz jumped from the widest alley, 10, at Randwick in December over Saturday's distance and top Melbourne hoop Damien Oliver elected to take the filly out the back rather than risk being posted three wide into the wind.

Ambers Waltz, who carried 57kg, made up a stack of ground in the run to the line, rocketing home to finish a neck second to Triple Crown.

"It was a very good experience for her when Oliver rode her, she got back and got amongst it and really showed plenty in defeat," Brown said.

"She'll be mid to back and there's obviously good speed in the race on Saturday and with a little bit of luck she'll be hitting the line well."

Ambers Waltz worked nicely under Brown at Randwick on Tuesday.

"She's absolutely spot-on, John's got her going beautifully," Brown said.

Brown was aboard Ambers Waltz in her slashing debut victory at Rosehill in December.

That day she drew barrier four and was given a charmed run in fourth spot for the best part of the race before kicking away to defeat Poker Night by 2-3/4 lengths.

"She got there without having to do anything and just had to roll home, as opposed to the other day where she was made to fight," Brown said.

Brown also rides the Kevin Moses-trained last-start winner Mr Unforgettable in the $500,000 Magic Millions Cup (1400m).

Mr Unforgettable scored a slashing 2-1/4 length win over Lorne Dancer at Randwick on Boxing Day over Saturday's distance with Jim Cassidy aboard.

"He's a very tough horse and from all reports he's been going really well, he should run well with a light weight (53kg)," Brown said.

Mr Unforgettable is rated a $9 chance on TAB Sportsbet while Group Two Chelmsford Stakes winner O'Lonhro is the $2.35 favourite.

Brown also teams up with the Anthony Cummings-trained Tallow in the $1 million Magic Millions Trophy (1400m).

The Street Cry filly was a last-start winner at Randwick on December 19 when she edged out Triple Elegance with Kerrin McEvoy in the saddle.

Tallow has won two of her five starts and been placed three times and Brown rides her for the first time.

"From what I've seen of her she looks very honest and I'm more than happy to take the ride on her," he said.
