Corey Brown needs a big day at Rosehill on Saturday to claw his way back in the jockeys' premiership and will reunite with three horses that formed part of his quartet of winners at the track a fortnight ago.

Brown's full book at Rosehill includes Agister, Back On Top and Illuminates who all won with him in the saddle on July 3 when he cut into Nash Rawiller's premiership lead.

However, two winning doubles in the past week from Rawiller without response has Brown eight behind with six meetings remaining.

Brown brought Illuminates with a powerful finishing burst to win the Civic Stakes (1400m) and Graeme Rogerson's assistant trainer Roger Elliott believes they can repeat the success in Saturday's feature race, the Listed Winter Stakes (1500m).

"I just think she (Illuminates) is an underrated mare and the extra 100 metres on Saturday is really going to suit her better," Elliott said.

"The bloke who rides her in work says he thinks she has improved (since the Civic Stakes win). Hopefully he's right and we can get the result again."

The racing career of Illuminates is winding down, with the Winter Stakes to be her final stakes appearance in Australia.

The rising six-year-old could start again in the $100,000 Winter Championship at Rosehill in two weeks before heading to New Zealand where up to three Group One races await before she is retired to the breeding barn.

The Peter Moody-trained Ghostmilk is the race favourite at $2.80 with TAB Sportsbet ahead of Illuminates at $4.80.

Ghostmilk has been in great form in Melbourne with three straight victories on wet tracks.

"That (Ghostmilk) is the horse to beat," Elliott said.

"Peter Moody's horses are going really well, but hopefully she (Illuminates) can get over the top of her."

On Friday Racing NSW stewards clarified with Moody whether Ghostmilk had suffered a setback which necessitated her withdrawal from last Saturday's Winter Championship Final at Flemington.

Moody told stewards he took a conservative approach with the mare because of slight swelling on the neck area due to a possible spider or insect bite, and because he had the other favoured runner, the ultimate winner Doubtful Jack, in the Flemington race.

The trainer reported that Ghostmilk missed no work and worked strongly on Tuesday morning before travelling to Sydney on Thursday.

Meanwhile, jockey Blake Shinn was unable to ride at Wyong on Friday due to illness but was expected to be fit to fulfil his engagements at Rosehill including the Gerald Ryan-trained Adnocon in the Winter Stakes.
