Brad Rawiller's freakish winning ride on Viewed in last week's Caulfield Cup has failed to capture the imagination of owners and trainers with him offered just two rides on Cox Plate day.
David Hayes booked Rawiller for Victoria Derby hope Extra Zero in the Group Two AAMI Vase (2040m) as well as two-year-old first starter Marmaa in the Microflite Helicopters Inglis Juvenile (1000m).
Rawiller said his lack of mounts wasn't a concern and he gives both his rides winning chances on Saturday.
He said he expected Extra Zero to win the Vase which in recent years has been the form race for the Derby.
"He is going to be a super chance and I would be surprised if he doesn't win," Rawiller said.
"I can't see him not running the 2000 metres."
Extra Zero has been on a Derby path for months and Rawiller rode him two starts ago when he was beaten in a photo-finish by Carrara in the Bill Stutt Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley on September 25.
Last start Rawiller's brother Nash partnered Extra Zero for a closing fourth to Starspangledbanner in the Caulfield Guineas.
Carrara is an on-pace runner but Rawiller queried him as a genuine 2000-metre horse as had Dan Nikolic who rides Spacecraft.
TAB Sportsbet share Rawiller's optimism with Extra Zero and on Thursday opened him $3.40 favourite for the Vase ahead of Carrara ($4.60).
Spacecraft is at $5 and Spring Champion Stakes placegetter Viking Legend joined him on the third line after firming from $8.50.
Last year Rebel Raider was the first Victoria Derby winner in seven years not to contest the AAMI Vase.
He beat Whobegotyou who was the raging favourite after winning the Vase.
Efficient in 2006 was the last horse to win both the Vase and the Derby while others to complete the double in the last 20 years have been Plastered (2004), Helenus (2002) and Blevic (1994).
Marmaa could get Rawiller off to a good start on Cox Plate day and will clash with unraced stablemate Kuroda Field who will be ridden by Chris Symons.
A $110,000 yearling, Marmaa is a son of General Nediym and unraced Last Tycoon mare Lady Jaguar who is a half-sister to stakes winning sprinters Gallopini and Land Speed Record.
By God's Own from Tycoon Princess, Kuroda Field cost $50,000 as a yearling.
