Hugh Bowman is set to pack his bags and head north for next month's Darwin Cup carnival after all but securing the Sydney jockeys' premiership with a winning treble at Rosehill.

The Darwin Turf Club would have been cheering Bowman on Saturday when he brought up his 96th winner for the season and moved 14 clear of Corey Brown with just four metropolitan meetings remaining.

Bowman brought up the race-to-race treble on Strat's Flyer in the Listed Winter Stakes (1500m) on Saturday after earlier scoring on Voice Coach and Beyonce's Star.

"The club (Darwin) has invited me up but I've told them I want to have the premiership wrapped up otherwise I won't be able to make it," Bowman said.

"Things have gone well and it looks like I might be able to head up there. I rode up there when I came out of my apprenticeship in 2001 and had a ball and I'd love to go back.

"If I do go up then I'll miss the last Sydney meeting at Warwick Farm (July 31) and head up in the time for the Sprint and then the Cup."

The Palmerston Sprint is on August 1 and the Cup two days later.

"I've got a couple of rides lined up for a local trainer but I don't know more than that at the moment," Bowman said.

The jockey said the plan was to stay in Darwin for a few days holiday before returning to Sydney for the Group Three San Domenico Stakes (1000m) at Randwick on August 8.

"I wish I could have gone up there more but in the past the Cup has clashed with the San Domenico which is such an important race but this year I've got a chance and I'm really hoping I can make it there," Bowman said.

Bowman won last year's San Domenico aboard Duporth and also claimed the $1 million Golden Rose on the Anthony Cummings-trained colt.
