Top jockey Hugh Bowman has given Victorian galloper Mic Mac a glowing assessment ahead of Saturday's All Aged Stakes after partnering the four-year-old in a workout at Warwick Farm on Tuesday.

Bowman rode the Greg Eurell-trained galloper for the first time in the Group One TJ Smith Stakes on April 10 and believes that experience is a great benefit heading into the Group One 1400m weight-for-age contest at Randwick.

Mic Mac finished third to Melito in the TJ Smith Stakes (1200m) at his first start since early November.

He is unbeaten in two second-up runs and is also unbeaten at 1400m.

"I'm rapt with him," Bowman said after riding the gelding in a 1200m gallop on the course proper.

"He worked with Glowlamp and he felt great.

"I was thrilled with his first-up run and I learned a bit about the horse. He just wanted to lay in a bit and if I had ridden him before I probably would have come to the outside of Wanted.

"I think he'll really appreciate the step up to 1400 metres this week, he's a horse who probably wants a bit of room and I'm pretty confident (about his chances)."

Eurell was at Warwick Farm to see his newest stable star prepare for the All Aged and said the multiple stakeswinner was on target to try to claim his first Group One victory on Saturday.

"He's come through his first-up run in the TJ exceptionally well so we haven't missed a beat so far," Eurell said.

"He didn't break any speed records this morning but he didn't have to, he's pretty right and it was just a matter of topping him up fitness-wise.

"I thought his run first-up was exceptionally good."

Mic Mac settled fourth in the small field in the TJ Smith but had to change course at about the 200m mark after trying to get between Wanted and Hot Danish.

"His last 100 metres was terrific though, and he's bounced out of that run really well," Eurell said.

The trainer is of the opinion 1400 metres is the ideal distance for Mic Mac at this stage of his career.

He won the Group Two Hobartville Stakes at Randwick last year and the Group Two Memsie Stakes at weight-for-age in the spring over the distance.

There are 15 horses nominated for the All Aged including the TJ Smith Stakes trifecta of Melito, Hot Danish and Mic Mac.

Also set to line up is multiple Group One winner Danleigh who finished fifth in last Saturday's Doncaster Mile.

Mic Mac, the winner of seven of his 13 starts, will head to Brisbane after the All Aged to be prepared for the winter carnival.

The BTC Cup (1200m) and Doomben 10,000 (1350m) at weight-for-age are both on his agenda, with the Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) also a possibility.

Eurell won the BTC Cup in 2008 with Apache Cat and also the Doomben 10,000 back-to-back in 2008 and 2009 with his former star.
