Allan Sharrock believes Opie Bosson will need to produce a faultless ride on Hollindale Stakes winner Shez Sinsational to give the New Zealand trainer his first Australian Group One victory in the Doomben Cup.

Singapore-based Bosson is returning for Saturday's Doomben Cup but will fly out immediately after the meeting to ride at Sunday's KrisFlyer International Sprint meeting at Kranji.

"Opie will have to give me a 10 out of 10 ride if this mare is to have any hope of beating Manighar," Sharrock said.

"I doubt Queenslanders have seen a staying horse of Manighar's calibre come here for the winter in a very long time.

"Manighar's form stands out and if he brings his A-grade form with him I don't know how he can get beaten.

"His only problem could be barrier one if he gets shuffled back in the field."

Manighar is the $2.40 favourite for the Doomben Cup after claiming three successive Group Ones in the Australian Cup, Ranvet Stakes and The BMW before going down to More Joyous in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Randwick last month.

Sharrock has won seven Group Ones in his homeland and went closest to breaking his drought in Australia when Shez Sinsational was narrowly beaten by Shootoff in last year's Queensland Derby at Eagle Farm.

"It'll be a big thrill if I can win my first Group One here," Sharrock said.

Sharrock is again disappointed with the four-year-old mare's barrier 11.

"I would have preferred Manighar's draw and I'd love to swap alleys," he said.

"But in saying that my mare won the Hollindale from out wide and she's thrived since."

Sharrock remains undecided about Shez Sinsational contesting the Melbourne Cup in the spring.

"I'm not completely ruling out the Melbourne Cup but there's plenty of weight-for-age races in Melbourne including the Cox Plate and Mackinnon Stakes," he said.

"But if she can beat Manighar tomorrow it puts her a lot closer to the elite staying horses over here."

Trainer Anthony Freedman hopes to get a better guide for the spring with German import Mawingo in the Doomben Cup.

Mawingo raced below his best when third on a heavy track in the Hollindale Stakes.

"Mawingo didn't handle the heavy track at the Gold Coast and I'm hoping we'll get a better measure of him on top of the ground tomorrow, Freedman said.

"If he wins it might bring his campaign in Queensland to an end but if he doesn't then he might go on to the Brisbane Cup."
