What beautifully-bred filly Bombay lacks in size she makes up for in other departments.

That's trainer David Payne's assessment of the Encosta De Lago juvenile who lines up in the Golden Slipper Festival On Sale Plate (1100m) at Canterbury on Wednesday.

The filly is out of Danehill mare Sarasota, a daughter of Piccadilly Circus, and was third to Blackball on debut at Rosehill on November 14 over 1100 metres.

She is also one of two Coolmore-owned horses in the Payne stable with the other being the unraced Danehill Dancer juvenile Swan River.

"You always want these high-profile people, it's good for the stable and it's exciting taking a horse to the races for them," Payne said.

"She's not a big filly, she's tiny, but she's a lovely mover and makes up for what she lacks in size with a nice big action."

Payne had the filly nominated for Randwick on Boxing Day and is glad he held her back.

"It was a bit too strong for her and we wanted to make sure she was competitive and this looks a good race for her at Canterbury," Payne said.

"Not many have had starts in this race but we have and that experience should count for something."

There are 12 acceptors for the race, among them three under the guidance of Patinack Farm trainer John Thompson.

Nathan Tinkler's Patinack Farm has debutantes Cuddles For Layla, Cuddles For Naara and Often Elusive in the race.

"With her breeding she'll be more comfortable over longer trips further down the track," Payne said of Bombay.

"But at the moment she'll sprint well and she's drawn a nice barrier (three)."

Two kilogram-claiming apprentice Brenton Avdulla again teams up with Bombay.

Payne rates stablemate Oenophilia a good chance in the Rosehill Gardens Event Centre Handicap (1900m).

The four-year-old is coming off a long neck second to Tyrone Prince at Newcastle over 1850 metres on December 12.

Oenophilia has just one win from 19 starts but has been placed 10 times.

"He's been knocking on the door at the provincials and I'm expecting him to be pretty competitive because of the drop in weight, he had 56 (kg) last time," Payne said.

The Danzero gelding has 53.5kg and will be ridden by Kerrin McEvoy.

Stablemate Chitu Ma is also expected to run well in the Caravan Supershow 17-25 April Handicap (1550m).

The Cape Cross filly was a first-up sixth to Tallow last start over 1400m at Randwick on December 19.

"She's very fit and should be competitive," Payne said.
