Unbeaten mare Black Caviar is on track for a return to racing in next month's Group Two Schillaci Stakes (1000m) after scoring an easy trial win at Cranbourne.
A winner of five races, the Peter Moody-trained four-year-old was on Monday having only her second serious gallop since a suspensory injury forced her to the paddock after winning the Group Two Australia Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley in January.
Jockey Luke Nolen wasn't asked to so much on Black Caviar and she dominated the 14-horse trial, beating Emjay Hussy by three-quarters-of-a-length and covering the 800 metres in 47.75s.
Moody's racing manager Jeff O'Connor said Black Caviar had been in work a long time but wasn't forward enough to run in Friday night's Group One Manikato Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley.
"The first option is the Schillaci Stakes at Caulfield on Caulfield Guineas Day," O'Connor said.
"So far so good with her but there is still a way to go."
Black Caviar surprised Moody with the ease of her trial win and how well she recovered.
Four of her five wins have been at stakes level, including the Group Two Danehill Stakes (1200m) at Flemington last spring.
