Unbeaten world champion Black Caviar has returned "in great shape" to Peter Moody's Caulfield stables.

Moody said the rising five-year-old stopped off in Dubbo overnight on her way back from Queensland before arriving on Wednesday afternoon.

"It has been great anticipation the last nine or 10 weeks since she has been away from the stable and we are looking forward to having her back," Moody said.

"She has put on a good deal of weight, not too much, but she is a quite big girl.

"She is a bit bigger at the moment but that's where you want her at this stage of a prep."

Black Caviar did about a month of pre-training at Kevin Thomas' 195-hectare Washpool Lodge property at Aratula, just over an hour from Brisbane, and has been "under saddle" for the last three weeks.

Moody said Black Caviar would follow a similar spring campaign to last year with a long-term view to targeting Royal Ascot's Group One sprints next winter.

He has scheduled a defence of last year's Group Two Schillaci Stakes (1000m) at Caulfield on October 8 for her return to racing.

She will also try to win for the second year in a row the Schweppes Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley on Cox Plate day and the Patinack Farm Classic on the last day of the Melbourne Cup carnival.

Moody is also planning a Perth assault on the Winterbottom Stakes (1200m) in late November which is preferred over the Hong Kong Sprint at Sha Tin's international meeting on December 11.

"We would certainly be very keen to have her there," he said.

"It is good prizemoney and fits in nicely ... so she still gets a nice break in time for the autumn."

Black Caviar was spelled after winning her 13th race, the Group One BTC Cup (1200m) at Doomben on May 14, when Moody felt she was showing signs of fatigue leading up to the Doomben 10,000 on May 28.

"She has come back in great shape," Moody said.

"We pulled the pin when she showed a bit of wear and tear and tiredness and now she has had a good rest we are really looking forward to the spring."
