He hasn't yet ridden a Group One winner and has just celebrated his 18th birthday but rising star apprentice Tim Bell is anything but overawed about riding against Australia's best jockeys in the Magic Millions Guineas.

Bell has five rides on Saturday's multi-million dollar program at the Gold Coast including locally-trained gelding Biggles in the $1 million Magic Millions Guineas (1400m).

The level-headed teenager was thrown into the deep end of racing from the start of his career and cut his teeth riding in the rough and tumble world of Sydney racing and said that experience would hold him in good stead on Saturday.

"I rode for more than six months in Sydney and I was lucky that most of the top jockeys are friends," Bell said.

"They taught me a lot and I also got invaluable experience riding for three days at Flemington during the spring carnival.

"I came out of those three days a much more mature rider and I am riding with a lot of confidence now - I am ready to stick it to them tomorrow."

Biggles was rated one of the leading Guineas chances until he finished a well-beaten sixth in the Vo Rogue Plate at Doomben on December 31, but Bell was far from disillusioned by the performance.

"Everyone else was disappointed apart from me," Bell said.

"He wasn't as enthusiastic as he normally is out of the barriers and I didn't bustle him to be there.

"He got a long way back under 56kg and made up good ground in the straight - I was more than happy with the run.

"He didn't have a gut-buster and I'm looking forward to riding him on Saturday."

Biggles has drawn awkwardly in barrier 14 and Bell said he would be happy to let the Jet Spur gelding find his feet early and hopefully find a good spot in transit.

"There's a lot of speed in the race as there always is in big races and I want to be midfield one off the fence," Bell said.

"He's one of the best three-year-olds I have ridden and he is a huge hope in a tough race.

"If I can be five or six lengths off them coming to the corner I will be very confident he will get over the top of them."
