Apprentice Tim Bell will make a cameo appearance at Randwick on Saturday before he begins another stint on the sidelines through suspension.

Bell hasn't ridden since Takeover Target Stakes day at Gosford on June 23 when he won the feature race on his favourite horse Border Rebel.

The young rider commenced a suspension after that meeting and was also slapped with another ban that day for causing interference shortly after the start in the Takeover Target.

Those two suspensions ended on Friday and Bell is keen to make an impression at Randwick on Saturday before he has to spend three more weeks on the sidelines from Tuesday.

In an inquiry earlier this week, Racing NSW stewards found no rider was at fault for a fall in which both Kerrin McEvoy and apprentice Alex Stokes came down in the Takeover Target, but Bell was suspended for three weeks for improper riding after raising his elbow and making contact with McEvoy's mount Skytrain.

"I'll only be riding for three days but they will be a big three days, including four rides at Randwick," Bell said.

"John O'Shea has shown me support and given me two rides and they look to be within the chances."

He also has a full book at Coffs Harbour on Sunday and seven rides at Muswellbrook on Monday.

Bell has ridden 80 winners across the state so far this season, including 14 in Sydney.

It's a number he hopes he can improve on slightly at his final city meeting of the season.

He has also won 13 races in Brisbane in the past season.

"The game plan is to go there (Randwick) and not think about riding winners, because when you do that things tend to come unstuck," Bell said.

"I'll go there just to ride the best races I possibly can and hopefully the horses are good enough."

Without a race ride for a month, Bell has been keeping fit by riding trackwork and going to the gym.

His first ride on Saturday will be on Queensland visitor Sarge In Charge in the day's opening race.

Sarge In Charge was sent to Sydney in search of a wet track and Bell was only booked for the ride on Thursday.

"They wouldn't be bringing the horse down from Brisbane for the hell of it," Bell said.

"It's great to have picked up that ride."

He'll also have his first ride on another interstate runner Kudeta, who was a last-start winner on the Lakeside track at Sandown on a heavy (10).

The Randwick track was a heavy (8) on Friday afternoon and the Heath Conners-trained Kudeta has had eight starts on heavy tracks for four wins and two seconds.
