Dwayne Dunn has maintained his unbeaten record for Randwick trainer Grahame Begg with a ground saving ride aboard Palacio De Cristal to win the Group Two Blazer Stakes at Flemington.

Dunn was having only his third ride for Begg having won the 2008 Moet And Chandon Stakes aboard Palacio De Cristal and the 2008 Group One Emirates Stakes on All Silent.

Begg praised Dunn for his ride on the Encosta de Lago five-year-old who hadn't raced since April.

"It was a great ride. He (Dunn) has taken all the short-cuts and cut the corner," Begg said.

"A few of the jockeys have been moving off the fence I've noticed and thought she might be able to stay in there.

"She did hit the front pretty early in the straight and fought on very well."

"Her main mission is the Myer Classic here on Derby Day and she's here for business. It was very important that she get her spring campaign off on the right foot and she's certainly done that.

"She is Group One placed (in the 2010 Coolmore Classic) and was very suited back to mares company at set-weights and penalties."

"She'll go to the Tristarc and then to the Meyer (Classic) and hopefully she might be able to back up into the Emirates on the last day (of the Melbourne Cup Carnival)."

The win topped off a great weekend for Begg who won Saturday's Group One Flight Stakes with Secret Admirer.

Palacio De Cristal ($5 equal fav) had a head to spare over the other equal favourite No Evidence Needed with Strawberry Field ($13) making up ground to finish two lengths back third.

Dunn said Palacio De Cristal, who won the Group Two Villiers Stakes (1600m) at Randwick last December, had gone on to bigger and better things since he last rode her nearly two years ago.

"She's done a great job today," he said.

"Probably her biggest fault is that she wants to bomb the start and show no real speed. Everyone wanted to get out to the centre.

"She showed me last time that she wanted to lug back to the rail, so I was happy enough to be there."
