Trainer Barry Baldwin is considering aborting Sydney and Melbourne autumn plans for star sprinter Burdekin Blues.

"I was all set to send him down for the Expressway Stakes in Sydney next month until I heard Hay List was a starter," Baldwin said.

"It's the same with the Newmarket in Melbourne. Black Caviar can have all the prizemoney down there."

Baldwin won't decide Burdekin Blues' interstate fate until after the gelding starts over 1200 metres at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

"I'd say Shane Scriven will ride him again with 61 kilograms and he'll need to run very well on Saturday to run against Hay List in Sydney," he said.

"If he doesn't run in the Expressway I'll have a good look to see what other races are suitable for him down there otherwise he'll go for a spell to prepare for the winter.

"He won't be running in the Newmarket."

Burdekin Blues returned from a long injury-enforced break to finish second at Doomben last month before a last-start fifth to Paprika in the Bat Out Of Hell (900m) at the Gold Coast on January 1.

"His two runs have been good. He was taken on up front and had 61 kilograms on a heavy track last run and wasn't beaten that far," Baldwin said.

Hot Danish, the darling of Sydney racing, is also expected to make her comeback against Hay List in the Expressway Stakes at Rosehill on February 5.

Despite the doubt over Burdekin Blues, Queensland looks set to have a big presence during the Sydney carnival.

Heading south are Magic Millions day winners Temple Of Boom for the Group One The Galaxy (1100m) at Randwick and Femina Fashion who could aim for the Group One Coolmore Classic (1500m) at Rosehill.

Trainer Trevor Whittington beat the rain deluge in Queensland when Femina Fashion won at Randwick on January 8 before the mare returned home to claim the Magic Millions Stayers Cup at the Gold Coast last Saturday.

Whittington tried Femina Fashion as a stayer when she failed in the Group One Queensland Oaks last season and will restrict her to races up to 1600 metres in the autumn.

Trainer Tony Gollan has turned Temple Of Boom out for a short break following his Magic Millions Sprint victory on Saturday.

"He's gone for a break for two weeks and he'll come back into work and race on Golden Slipper day," Gollan said.

"He'll go second-up in The Galaxy."

Trainer Norm Hilton who won the Magic Millions Cup with Bold Glance is also considering setting up a small stable in Sydney for the autumn.

Another Queenslander, Tierqualo, made a big impression to score first-up at Rosehill last Saturday and will remain in Sydney until trainer Kelly Doughty decides his future.

Tierqualo has been hard to place because of his rating but Doughty is hoping the Rosehill win may elevate the son of Sequalo up the rankings.

"I'm going down next weekend to look at him," Doughty said.

"I'll nominate him for the Summer Cup at Caloundra on Friday week and Randwick the next day.

"It all depends on the weather. He won't be running anywhere if it rains."
