Talented sprinter Judge Me Not has a new zest for racing which could earn him a trip to Sydney for the spring if he continues his winning form at Doomben.

Judge Me Not will be chasing a hat-trick of wins when he lines up in Saturday's Carmichael Builders Plate (1350m) but trainer Alan Bailey won't take the son of Lonhro away unless he wins convincingly.

"I'm playing it by ear with him and he'll need to win well on Saturday to warrant going away again," Bailey said.

"He's won well at his last two runs but I don't think the opposition was very strong.

"This run tomorrow will give us a better guide."

Judge Me Not won only once from his first seven starts when he raced as a rig before it was decided to geld him.

"He was owned by Ken Jones whose original idea was to send him to stud later on," Bailey said.

"But when Ken died a few months ago it was decided to geld him.

"He used to hang off the track early in his career but I think that was because he was squeezing the other testicle which was caught up in the channel."

Since being gelded during his autumn spell, Judge Me Not is unbeaten in two starts at the Gold Coast and Eagle Farm.

Jones was an American businessman based in Guam and won a host of Australia's premier sprints notably with Catbird, Juanmo, Clan O'Sullivan and Kenny's Best Pal.

Catbird won the Group One Golden Slipper Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill in 1999, Juanmo won Queensland's two Group One juvenile features, the QTC Sires' Produce Stakes and TJ Smith (1600m) at Eagle Farm in 2001, while Kenny's Best Pal won the 1993 Australian Guineas (1600m) at Flemington.

Clan O'Sullivan won the 1992 Magic Millions (1200m) at the Gold Coast before going on to finish second in Burst's Golden Slipper triumph the same year.

Jones paid $300,000 at the Magic Millions sales for Judge Me Not who is a half-brother to Mr. Innocent, winner of the Group One Doomben 10,000 (1350m) in 2000.

Jockey Glen Colless, who rode Mr. Innocent in his Doomben 10,000 triumph, was aboard Judge Me Not last start but cannot make his 53 kilograms on Saturday and has been replaced by Scott Galloway.

Bailey rated Judge Me Not good enough as a three-year-old to send to Sydney for last year's spring carnival.

In his first Sydney start, Judge Me Not finished third to Dreamscape in the Group Two Stan Fox Stakes (1400m) last September then was runner-up to The Astronomer in his only other southern run over 1400 metres at Rosehill last October.

In his next campaign, Bailey sent Judge Me Not back to Sydney for the autumn but he failed to measure up in three starts.

After failing in the Listed Strada Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on March 14, Judge Me Not could manage only sixth to Solo Flyer in the Group Two Ajax Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill a fortnight later.

He came back to Queensland after finishing 12th to Orca in the Listed Carbine Club (1600m) at Randwick on April 11.
