High profile owner Sean Buckley will be looking for healthy returns from Marveen in the autumn after purchasing her with a view to her eventually joining his band of broodmares.

The four-year-old daughter of Orientate has raced twice since Buckley paid $450,000 for her at the Magic Millions Winter Broodmare sale in June and he will be keen to see her carry his colours to victory in the coming weeks.

Trainer Robert Smerdon said Saturday's Listed Summer Race Days Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield would launch her campaign towards to the feature mares' races in Melbourne and possibly Sydney.

"We wanted to give her a good spell after last winter and time her run back in to the autumn," Smerdon said.

A six-time winner who has earned $631,645 in prize money, Marveen has three Listed races among her victories - the VRC Desirable Stakes, Gold Coast Bracelet and Merson Cooper Stakes.

She is four-time stakes-placed including a second to Express Air in the Group Two Queensland Guineas two days after Buckley bought her in June.

She was spelled after finishing second last in the Group One Winter Stakes in Brisbane.

Smerdon said Marveen had benefited from her break and would be suited in Saturday's $100,000 event which has attracted 16 runners including top rater and Christmas Stakes third placegetter Time Matters (103), Sydney Cup runner-up Divine Rebel (101), and Diplomatic Force (101).

Group One winner Tears I Cry, who returned to winning form at Flemington last month, is also entered along Standish Handicap runner-up Beltrois, and Johnny Fiasco who was impressive winning at Moonee Valley on Saturday night.

Mind Your Head won a series of races last summer including the Rubiton Stakes and looks to be running in to form again with a last start fourth in the Christmas Stakes.

Marveen has won from 1000 to 1800 metres and races well fresh.

She is a first up winner at Flemington and as a two-year-old was second to Siennas Fury when she resumed in the Listed Blue Diamond Fillies Prelude.

"I think she is forward enough to run really well again," Smerdon said.
