The Peter Moody stable will be looking for confirmation that smart juvenile Golden Archer is Group One Blue Diamond material at his home track of Caulfield on Boxing Day.

Stable jockey Luke Nolen compared the Rock Of Gibraltar colt to 2009 Blue Diamond Stakes winner Reward For Effort when he made an impressive debut at Flemington, beating Hot Spin by 2-1/4 lengths on December 11.

Nolen rated him the best of the stable's two-year-old's so far this season after the win.

"We don't have many two-year-old runners before Christmas and we've got another 40 or 50 to get through but he's probably the pick of them," he said.

Moody said he found it hard to split Golden Archer and Encosta De Lago filly One Last Dance who won by 4-1/4 lengths on debut over 955m with Nolen in the saddle at Moonee Valley last Friday night.

One Last Dance is also being aimed at the $1 million Blue Diamond (1200m) at Caulfield on February 26 and is due to have her next run over 1100m at Caulfield on January 8.

Golden Archer will carry topweight of 57.5kg in Sunday's Sportingbet Plate (1000m) which is a set weights plus penalties event.

Nolen said he really liked Golden Archer.

"He has a great attitude. He's just a thorough professional," he said.

"When he won at Flemington it was his first time away from Caulfield but despite that he was nice and relaxed behind the gates and did the job well.

"I liked the way he attacked the line and I was a little bit soft on him late."

An $80,000 yearling, Golden Archer is the second foal from Pins mare Viennetta, winner of the 2005 Group Two New Zealand Breeders Stakes (1400m) at Ellerslie.

Among his seven rivals on Sunday is Hot Spin, Maribyrnong Trial Stakes placegetter Stop Sookin and Morphettville winner Flor Do Mar while the other four are making their racetrack debuts.
