Alverta will start from barrier 18 in the Group One Golden Jubilee Stakes in her bid to join Choisir as an Australian winner of the famous Royal Ascot race.

The Paul Messara-trained mare will be one of 24 runners in the 1200m Group One on the final day of the Ascot carnival in England on Saturday (12.50am Sunday AEST), with former Australian-trained sprinters Starspangledbanner and Fravashi also in the race that forms part of the Global Sprint Challenge.

The draw has Alverta, winner of the Group One Coolmore Classic during the recent Sydney autumn carnival, beginning closer to the inside running rail on the straight course while Starspangledbanner, who drew gate four, will begin close to the grandstand side.

Fravashi, formerly trained by Peter Snowden before being transferred to the powerful Godolphin set-up, came up with barrier 10 and will be ridden by Frankie Dettori.

Dettori rode Aussie sprinter Nicconi to fourth placing in the Group One King's Stand Stakes (1000m) at Royal Ascot earlier this week.

Hong Kong sprinter Happy Zero, who'll be ridden by Australia's Hong Kong-based Darren Beadman, will start from barrier eight in a field which has a strong international representation.

Choisir is the only Australian-trained sprinter to have won the Golden Jubilee when he claimed the King's Stand Stakes-Golden Jubilee double in 2003.

Since then, the Golden Jubilee has been less successful for the Aussie raiders despite Takeover Target, Miss Andretti and Scenic Blast all winning the King's Stand Stakes in the past five years.

Three-year-old Showcasing is 11-2 favourite in latest William Hill markets ahead of Starspangledbanner at 7-1.

Starspangledbanner will be having his second start for champion Irish trainer Aidan O'Brien.

He won two Group Ones in Australia when trained by Leon Corstens.

Happy Zero and Fleeting Spirit were next in the market at 8-1 while Alverta was rated an 18-1 chance with Australian jockey Tye Angland to ride.
