Jockey Craig Agnew was taken to hospital after being thrown from a two-year-old who bolted in a barrier trial mishap at Rosehill on Friday.

Racing NSW steward Steve Railton said Agnew went to Westmead Hospital but early scans cleared him of any serious injuries.

"He was pretty uncomfortable for a while and suffered a hip or pelvis injury but the test results have so far come back all clear," Railton said.

Agnew was riding the Jack Denham-trained Lioncub in heat four of the morning.

"The horse was being loaded and broke away from the handler and took off with Craig not fully set on the horse," Railton said.

"The horse still had the lead rope on and in the straight Craig couldn't pull it up and the horse tangled itself up and dislodged him.

"He's sore and sorry and has been ruled out of riding at Kembla on Saturday."
